On a bright and sunny afternoon on Saturday, 21 April, four candidates (confirmands) from St Luke's received Laying on of Hands from Bishop Riscylla as they received the Sacrament of Confirmation. In order to recall their Baptisms, the Bishop also anointed each one with Holy Oil.

Earlier in the Liturgy, the congregation renewed their own Baptismal vows along with the confirmands. The Bishop sprinkled water throughout the congregation as a symbol of the Baptism that we each share as followers of Jesus Christ.

In addition to St Luke's, there were four young folks from St Thomas Church and one adult from the Parish of Belmont who had her own Confirmation renewed by the Bishop.

Along with the parents, many family members were able to attend the Service and to join in marking this milestone in the journeys of the young candidates.

Congratulations to each person who received the Laying on of Hands and Holy Oil today. Special congratulations and good wishes especially for Autumn, Christopher, Matthew, and Trinity from St Luke's. This was the same day as the Community Meal at St Luke's but still several of the parish travelled to Millbrook to support the candidates at the Service of Confirmation.

Thanks to Father Rob Ross and the People of St Thomas Church for their kind hospitality. The Feast Day of St Anselm was observed on this occasion.

[Prayer adapted from this service] Almighty God, we thank you for sealing your Holy Spirit on these you have bound to your service. Renew in your servants Matthew, Trinity, Cheyenne, Sierra, Autumn, Christopher, Simon, Shawn, Kyle and Judy the covenant you made with them at their baptism. Send them forth in the power of the Spirit to perform the service you set before them; we ask this through Jesus Christ your Son who reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.
