On Sunday, 10 June, the St Luke’s community gathered for the Annual Parish Picnic following the morning Service. This year, there was an added cause for celebration. Barbara Lee was celebrating her 99th Birthday. Although Barb did not want “any fuss”, she was delighted that her family and parish family celebrated this momentous occasion with her.
The menu consisted of favourite picnic BBQ fare: hot dogs, hamburgs, and salads plus, for this special occasion, there was a special cake and ice cream for all. What a great way to top off a delicious BBQ. The picnic was well-attended by young and old and the weather was fantastic — unlike the previous Sunday when the Peterborough churches gathered for a picnic in the rain.
This was a great day and a really special opportunity for the parish to celebrate with Barb as she enters her 100th year. Special Blessings to her and to her family, Father Glenn remarked.
Thanks to everyone who made the picnic a great success which special mention for Stan, and Ross and Bob on the BBQ. Thanks to the catering group and to everyone who helped in any way. Blessings to all.
